Bike maintenance basic course – Sundays 2 day – Marina

This course will give a solid foundation in bike maintenance, helping you understand how your bike should work, how to avoid and to recognise problems and to carry out adjustments and repairs. There are various ways that looking after your bike better will make cycling more enjoyable and also save you money on repairs.
The course is delivered by an experienced mechanic from Cork Community Bikes. Topics covered include:
- Punctures
- Brakes (rim-type)
- Parts of the bike, basic and advanced checks
- Gears
- Wheels
- Bearings
This course will be run from Rebel Reads (map here) as a total of 2 sessions, 10.00am-4.30pm each, spread over 2 Sundays, 17th November and 1st December 2024. We will give you as much hands-on experience as we can, trying out yourself many of the skills we cover. Tools and bikes to practise on will be provided, though you are welcome to bring your own. Course notes are provided by email.
The standard cost is 90 Euro per person, but we can offer a 70-110 Euro range, so those with lower incomes can join, and those who are happy to contribute a little more can do so. There are limited spaces, please contact us to find out more and to reserve a space.
