Bike maintenance and repair basic course – Bandon – UNDERWAY
€20.00
The course is delivered by an experienced mechanic from Cork Community Bikes. Topics covered include basic checks, parts of the bike, brakes, gears, wheels, bearings. This course will be run online through Zoom, a total of 6 sessions of 1.5 hours each, spread over 3 consecutive Sunday mornings 29th Nov, 6th Dec, 13th Dec. We will try to give you as much hands-on experience as possible, so having a bike next to you during the course that you can look at and make adjustments to will be important. Basic tools such as a screwdriver and a set of Allen/hex keys are useful but not essential, we will advise on tools beforehand and may be able to lend some tools to participants. Course notes are provided by email.
The cost is 20 Euro per person. The course is generously subsidised by Cork County Council’s Environmental Awareness Office as part of its waste prevention work. Cork Community Bikes through its work helps people to repair bikes that in some cases would otherwise be thrown away, and we use second-hand parts alongside new parts for repair. In addition we share our knowledge favouring parts and bikes that are durable and easily serviced, and help raise awareness in how bikes are maintained to prevent usable parts becoming waste.
